Its the New Year already ...

Elsewhere

... and I feel like I never really got to live 2005 properly. I was too caught up in the big decisions of getting back to India and settling in to really live it up. Not that I am particularly unhappy about it. The year was pretty good to me. I had a nice, easy time of it at work, met K again and moved in, made a bunch of friends through Good As You and outside, started LJ... life is getting interesting!

Abhishek & Bala had organized the most successful gay Bangalore New Year Party ever. There were over 150 people gathered in this small little club on Cunningham road. Maybe next year, it will be in a bigger, better place. K and I reached the place around 10pm, more from wanting to see the familiars like Ash who we haven't seen in a while than from a real need to dance the new year in.

As such, we were mostly hanging out close to the entrance keeping Ash's company, and taking on small tasks such as welcoming new entrants, making sure they paid their dues and knew what they were getting. Quite a few straight couples dropped in, eager to get into a club for the evening, and were told that they were welcome at Rs. 700/- per head and that it was a party for gay men and gay-friendly people ('But we are a couple, not stags!' said one. 'Shouldn't you be charging lesser for her?'. It took some explaining.) Most of them left with small smiles or dazed looks, but a few adventurous types stayed on and partied.

The music was nice, the food great and the bois perfectly beautiful. I did wish VJ, Jeevs and gang were there.

Though neither K nor I are really the dancing party-type people, it was still nice to dance holding each other, sway to the music and smile into each other's eyes when it struck mid-night.

[info]discoboy71 is back from his Cambodia/ Thailand sojourn and we (KK and us) met up with him yesterday. He has lost weight and gained perspective by the looks of it. He got me this lovely carved frog which lets out this amazingly throaty croak when you pull a wooden stick across its ridged back. VJ wants it to be the mating call at home, to be used when one is horny and wants lover to drop everything, pants especially, and rush to bed. :-)

KK had met up with some other friends of hers and joined them in a 'spiritual' party for New Year's eve, where they welcomed the new year in silence and had a no-liquor, no-smokes, no-meat, all-fun evening. I guess it means so much more effort for the hosts to make sure people have fun when you cannot loosen them up with liquor, order some random chicken and assorted veggies and hope for the best. 'Quite a nice party actually', she said. 'But I am dying for a drink now.'

Its back to the regular working week for now. No doubt this year will have its stories to tell.

Hope all of you had a great time. Do tell of your particular celebrations

I guess my description of the party was a tad wistful. It stems possibly from wishing I could dance with some sense of rhythm, instead of being a wall flower. I just can't move my hands and feet at the same time, or throw my hands up and jump.

Wistful or otherwise, it is great fun :)

Re: HNY2U2
Body shadow...thats what they used to call it in theatre practices. Ask somebody to hold a hand vertically. Pretend you are the hand and face it. Ask the person to move the hand and twist your body, your hands and your head in the motions of the hand. Excellent practice for coordination and also works as a beautiful foreplay game more interesting than twister.

Body shadow..
.. or otherwise, I think I might try it for play. Don't like twister either!

Re: Body shadow..
I dont like twister either. But body shadow used to be a huge hit at the theatre workshops and warm ups. It was a game we used to play in pairs before beginning a new play....it is a good coordination game cum exercise cum lots of laughter. It is about exploring how much you can stretch your partner without snapping them and learning each others' bodies and movements. Play it...you might like it.
